Important note for Virginia couples
Virginia does not recognize any Universal Life Church online ordainments.
Their requirements of someone who performs a ceremony is that the person must:
- Be a Virginia resident
- Petition the Court for approval and pay a filing fee
- Pay a $500 bond
- Return the Marriage License within 5 days of the wedding to receive the $500 back
What that means for you
If a friend got ordained online to marry you in Virginia, your marriage will not be legal. Meghan is an ordained civil celebrant: she can sign and file the license so the marriage is legal, while your friend performs the ceremony you actually want.
Availability
When Meghan can officiate
- For non-FAE coordination clients: the Officiant services are only available for weekday weddings or drop-off signing service.
- Full wedding officiating can be available on weekends to non-FAE wedding clients on dates within 60 days of wedding date only.
Coordination clients can add officiating to their package. Officiant services are offered to Virginia clients only.
